Belly Dance Discovery
Mondays, Fridays & Saturdays 10am - 11am
1 hour class (drills, combinations, stretching)
This class goes through the spectrum of body movement and patterns used for any style of belly dance. Moving at the pace of a cardio fitness class, we will continually drill the basic isolations, dynamics and qualities of movement, standard foot patterns and elegant arm framing. It is a great conditioning class for enabling your muscle memory to give you natural, effortless transitions while improvising. It is also excellent cross-training for dancers who would like to incorporate more body movement into other styles of dance that they study. The only requirement is a smile. Barefoot with comfortable clothing like yoga pants or long skirt. Bring your hip scarf, veil, &/or finger cymbals if you have them.

Incense Tribal Style Dance (for young ladies 10-19)
call 808 854-1270 if you are interested
Incense is a student troupe that meets after school to train in Tribal Style Dance. Students learn Tribal Style Dance vocabulary that uses ethnic dance movement from North Africa, the Middle East, India, and Spain. They also keep an Art Journal and have daily talking circles to enrich their dancing by helping them develop their own unique voice. The latter portion of class involves costume making: students "earn" their costumes elements after they have mastered each movement (very similar to earning badges in a martial arts or scouts program). At the end of the program students have full costumes that they have sewn themselves to perform in and a beautiful written record of their dance journey. Discover more about Incense here.
